At
approximately 15:45 PM on Wednesday, July 13, 2005, the McCook City and
Volunteer Fire Department responded to the McCook Regional Airport for a
Cessna 210 Airplane with reported landing gear failure.
Upon arrival of the fire department, personnel from Red Willow
Aviation were setting up to manually extend landing gear.
After
several attempts the landing gear was successfully extended by personnel
in the back of a pickup truck utilizing a pike pole.
Pilot Jim Hagert and his passenger were exhausted, but very
thankful to be safely on the ground.
The plane is owned by Mick Brosius of North Platte, it was in
McCook being repaired by Red Willow Aviation.
The
fire department had twelve firefighters respond to the incident, one
ambulance, one rescue vehicle, one Aircraft Rescue and Firefighting
vehicle, and one engine. We
remained on the scene for approximately one and half-hours for standby.
