The city owns and operates a transfer station when garbage is collected. The material that is collected is transferred to the J Bar J Landfill near Ogallala by a contracted hauler. The transfer station collects in excess of 12,000 tons of material annually.

Recycling
The primary function of the Recycling Department is to coordinate the local recycling efforts. The department accepts recyclables during regular business hours and also has locations around town for dropping off recyclables. Annually, the city takes in approximately 400 tons of recyclables.
