Starting Monday September 13, 2021 Contractors will begin work on the installation of a new water main on West 5th Street starting at the intersection of West 5th and West “G” and ending at West 5th and West “M”
Traffic on West 5th Street will be reduced to the south bound lane only. Intersections at West 5th and “G”, West 5th and “H”, and West 5th and “I” will be closed. West J Street will remain open during the construction. The work is expected to take 14 days to complete.
Motorists are asked to avoid this area for their safety and the safety of the workers.
The 16 inch water main will be installed using underground boring. The boring process shortens the amount of time needed to do the work and is less disruptive to persons living in the area.
The addition of the new 16 inch main will aid the existing 12 inch main supplying water to the Pump Station at West 5th and West “M” Street. The additional main will help maintain a consistent supply of water to the pump station that fills the water tower on West 10th Street and supplies water to the west side of McCook.
The work is being done by Myers Construction of Broken Bow, Nebraska. The project is funded by water user fees and State Revolving Loan Funds.
