School Resource Officer

About the Program

The School Resource Officer (SRO) Program began in August of 2000. The SRO spends 42 hours per week during the school year working with juveniles in the City of McCook. Duties of the SRO include, but are not limited to:

  • Security and traffic patrol at the schools
  • Investigation of criminal complaints and violations in and around schools
  • Coordination between all agencies and organizations dealing with juveniles
  • Teaching D.A.R.E. classes at McCook schools
  • Coordinating truancy prevention efforts
  • Counseling and interacting with juveniles in and around schools

Schools 

The SRO is responsible for the safety of all students and faculty in all of the McCook public schools. This includes:

  • McCook Elementary School
  • Central Elementary School
  • McCook Junior High School
  • McCook Senior High School
