[ARCHIVED] Snow Emergency Declared

Pursuant to Section 72.05 of the City of McCook Code of Ordinances, the City has declared a Snow Emergency effective at 10:00 p.m. Thursday, February 2, 2012. Parking of any vehicles, including trailers, on either side of designated emergency snow routes is prohibited for the duration of this snow emergency. Vehicles that are not moved, may be towed at the owner's expense or subject to a fine. Snow emergency routes are designated with green street signs as well as emergency snow route signs. A listing of said streets is available on this website (see link below).

With the length of time that it is forecast to snow, it may be necessary for the City to plow numerous times. We are also requesting that residents do not deposit now into the streets, not only can it create a driving hazard, but also can cause melting snow to dam up and create some flooding issues.

City residents are reminded that sidewalks should be cleared within 24 hours of the cessation of snow.

This emergency notice will remain in effect until further notice. The City will notify the media once the snow emergency has been canceled.

Thank you in advance for your cooperation and we hope that everyone remains safe during this potentially dangerous storm.
