City Attorney
Nathaniel Mustion
Nathaniel ("Nate") Mustion was retained and employed by the City of McCook under the title of City Attorney in March, 2015. As attorney for the City, Nate renders to the City of McCook, a Municipal Corporation, and it's authorized officers, all legal advice and services as set forth in the McCook Municipal Code. The City Attorney consults and advises the City Manager and City Clerk. Chief of Police also has direct contact with the City Attorney for Ordinance enforcement. The City Attorney is not a public defender.
Nate was born and raised on a rural Nebraska farm and is a 1997 graduate of Culbertson High School. He obtained his Associate of Arts degree (summa cum laude) from McCook Community College while on the Deans List both years. He then attended the University of Nebraska at Kearney. There he obtained his Bachelor of Science (summa cum laude) in May of 2008, majoring in Political Science with a minor in Criminal Justice. Nate then attended the University of Nebraska College of Law in Lincoln, Nebraska where he earned his Juris Doctorate with distinction in May, 2012. Only a year out of law school, he was involved in two cases argued before the Nebraska Supreme Court, one of them pitting him against one of the more respected attorneys practicing in the state today, Dave Domina.
After practicing law in Ogallala for two years at the law office of Lane and Williams, P.C, LLO, Nate returned to Southwest Nebraska in 2014 to continue his career at Mousel, Brooks, Garner and Schneider, P.C, LLO in McCook. After joining the McCook firm, he began practicing municipal law as the Bartley Village Attorney.
Nate resides in McCook with his wife, Amanda. He enjoys scuba diving, traveling, cooking and reading.
